Online therapy costs explained

Facts checked October 15, 2026. Operated by Alpha Origin LLC. Not medical advice.

What you are buying

Online therapy platforms usually sell a subscription, not a single office visit. Marketing often quotes a weekly rate even when the card is charged monthly. The number that matters is the price shown when you create an account. Figures below were checked against each company’s public pages and can change without notice.

Published cash ranges (snapshot)

These are publisher summaries of official pages—not a guarantee of your checkout quote.

  • Online-Therapy.com FAQ: ongoing Basic $60 / Standard $90 / Premium $120 per week; first month listed 20% lower.
  • Calmerry pricing page: promotional weekly figures about $49.50 (messaging) to $73.75 (messaging + four live videos), billed monthly.
  • BetterHelp pricing page: about $70–$100 per week (roughly $280–$400 monthly).
  • Talkspace pricing page: cash individual plans $69 / $99 / $109 per week depending on messaging and live-video allotment.

Introductory vs ongoing price

Online-Therapy.com’s cost FAQ lists a 20% first-month discount. Calmerry’s pricing page may show promotional weekly rates next to higher strikethrough list prices. BetterHelp mentions promotional codes and financial aid on the non-insured path. Talkspace’s pricing page reviewed for this guide did not publish a separate first-month discount table. Intro offers expire; renewals follow the ongoing rate.

Insurance can change the math

BetterHelp and Talkspace both publish in-network insurance pathways. Member costs can be a low copay—or $0—when benefits apply, but deductibles and network rules control the final bill. Calmerry and Online-Therapy.com both state they do not accept direct insurance payments; each describes itemized receipts you may submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement (not guaranteed).

How to use this guide

Treat public marketing numbers as a starting point, then confirm on the provider site.

  • Decide whether you need insurance billing, cash-pay simplicity, or a structured CBT program.
  • Open the homepage comparison and each provider overview for source links.
  • Confirm the live quote, geography, and age rules on the provider’s own checkout.
